If you’re on the hunt for a high-refresh-rate QHD gaming monitor for under $200, this is the deal for you. Right now, this Acer Nitro 27-inch gaming monitor is at its lowest price ever on Amazon, with $100 off its list price, bringing it down from $299.99 to $199.99. This monitor is very much designed for high fps gaming, and it packs an impressive 300Hz refresh rate, a very low 0.3ms response time, and FreeSync Premium for ultra-smooth gameplay. It also features an ErgoStand and ZeroFrame design, for some added functionality and a more premium look and finish, plus, it has a DisplayHDR 400 certification, which means you’re getting excellent color, contrast, and brightness, too.

Acer Nitro 27″ WQHD 2560×1440 IPS PC Gaming Monitor

AMD FreeSync Premium | 300Hz | Up to 0.5ms | 99% sRGB | DisplayHDR 400 | ErgoStand | VESA Mounting | 1 x DP 1.4 & 2 x HDMI 2.1 | XV272U F3bmiiprx

Key features of this Acer Nitro 27″ gaming monitor

FreeSync Premium

This is a very good feature to have that puts this monitor more towards mid-range territory. FreeSync Premium has all the anti-screen-tearing and anti-stutter capabilities of FreeSync, but adds Low Framerate Compensation into the mix. This is very important, as it helps keep everything running smoothly, even when framerates dip. For competitive gaming, it’s a must-have.

300Hz refesh rate and 0.3ms response time

Again, this is better than most, especially for the price. 300Hz allows for very high fps gaming, and 0.3ms response time means that you won’t get much in the way of ghosting and motion blur. This is brilliant for a smoother gaming experience, but crucially, it makes it easier to track opponents on screen, making it great for competitive gameplay, once again.

IPS and WQHD

IPS panels are typically characterized by their brightness, responsiveness, and excellent viewing angles. They’re on the ‘lower-end’ at least when compared to OLEDs, but they’re still excellent, especially for high fps gaming. It’s WQHD resolution, which is 1440p. On a screen this size, QHD looks super crisp and clear, and it’s well known as being the ‘sweet spot’ for many, especially if you’re trying to keep costs a little lower.

Decent color

This monitor has 99% sRGB color, which is good for gamers in particular. 99% sRGB color coverage basically means that everything is going to look vibrant, and colors will ‘pop’ off the screen. For most games, the more vibrant the better. For graphic designers and video editors, it’s okay, but not amazing. You’ll want to check out monitors with 95% DCI-P3 color and above if you’re looking for something for accurate color for professional creative work.

ZeroFrame

The good news is that nowadays most brands have realized that chunky bezels make monitors look a little dated, and arguably a little low-end, too. This monitor has super-thin bezels for a more premium and immersive finish. Great to see, especially since it’s under $200.

Things to consider

As far as an affordable QHD, high refresh rate gaming monitor goes, this ticks all the boxes, but where it slightly falls is when it comes to hybrid usage for creatives. That’s not Acer’s fault, though, as this monitor isn’t really designed for serious creatives, but if you are a content creator who’s regularly editing video, for example, you’ll want to up your budget a bit and explore some of the mini-LED options or OLED monitors instead. To keep costs down, you may have to trade off a bit of refresh rate and go for something like a QHD, 144Hz, or QHD, 240Hz OLED. Samsung does some excellent ones, which are frequently on sale, and have the bonus of being better for HDR gaming, too. You could bag one for around $400 to $500 in the sales.
